Why do we do turns on waves? Well this is how I see it any way. We do turns because they are fun of course! It would become a little boring if we just went straight all the time. The real reason we do turns is because we are trying to fit in with the wave that we are riding. In britain that can be an extra challenge as we have the continental shelf slowing our swell down and we can also suffer from a lot of local wind. So we are fitting in with the wave , trying to stay with the power (where the wave is just breaking) or in the pocket. The wave changes all the time but there are two basic reasons for different types of turns, either to keep up with the wave or slow down and stay with the power. |
